Our world is changing, we are facing educational challenges throughout the entire globe, new technologies let us change the way we use to teach within the classroom.
Every day new media resourses are beeing developed and educators sometimes are reluctant to take advantage of this fact. Parents are exceptical and children are getting bored because text books offer no evolution. There are ways to keep our children updated on world matters.
Our global society demands a new way of think, the new citizens will need different tools from that we needed because they will cope not only with the problems of their own place, but they are inmerse in a new media world.
Children are the same, but their environment is changing fast! Research on the way people learn is now at our hands and we need to know this to be ready to motivate our students in order to let them learn. They do not need to memorize facts anymore, they do not need to standarize learning and be compared, they need to be developed as individuals engaged with their society.
Promoting social studies in real life situations, for instance is a good practice and a good way of learning. Today we can do that! As a story, our school in Mexico City is holding a cultural exchange with elementary schools in Vancouver, children have the opportunily to ask and to learn from they peers and compare and contrast with their ouwn experiences and knowledge. That is not a difficult task. The only thing we need is creativity, and willingness to accomplish this kind of projects.
